About this tour

This session walks the length of Djurgården island, from its old oak woods to Rosendal Palace and the garden beyond it. The camera passes waterside paths, old villas and the greenhouse at Rosendal before looking out toward passing archipelago boats. It is a quieter, greener side of Stockholm than the museums nearby.

The call begins with a sound check, then follows the path stop by stop at an easy pace, with time for questions throughout. A short note on what was seen is sent after the call finishes.

This suits anyone who prefers nature and gardens to city streets, or anyone missing a walk outdoors. It also suits former visitors who want to see a part of Djurgården beyond its museums.

  • Live video walk with a local guide
  • Questions to your guide all the way
  • A short list of places to visit later

Not included

  • Internet connection

Itinerary

  1. Welcome and sound check 7 min

The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Stockholm before heading out.

  2. Djurgården oak woods 21 min

Walking beneath the old oaks of Djurgården, the camera follows the waterside path past villas built for wealthy Stockholm families in the 1800s, and the guide explains why the island stayed this green so close to the centre.

  3. Rosendal Palace 21 min

From outside Rosendal Palace, a small yellow building among the trees, the camera takes in its Empire-style front, and the guide explains it was built as a country retreat for King Karl XIV Johan.

  4. Rosendal garden 21 min

In Rosendal's garden, the camera moves past the orchards and the glass greenhouse where produce is grown and sold, and out toward the water, where the guide points out boats heading for the archipelago.

  5. Your questions 14 min

Time to ask anything about Stockholm: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.

  6. A short list to keep 6 min

Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Herring and Gamla Stan, worth a slower look.

Good to know

  • A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.
  • Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
  • Times are shown in Stockholm time, so check the time where you are before you book.
  • The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
  • Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
  • Sessions run in small groups, up to 12 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work

Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
