About this tour

This session gives first-time visitors a straight introduction to Kraków, from the Floriańska Gate and Barbican into the Main Market Square, then down the Royal Route to Wawel Hill. The guide explains the Cloth Hall, St Mary's trumpet call and the cathedral exterior along the way. It is a plain orientation walk rather than a deep dive into any one site.

The call opens with a sound check, then follows the Royal Route stop by stop from gate to castle, timed if possible around the hourly trumpet call. A short list of what to see first follows once the call ends.

This suits anyone visiting Kraków for the first time and wanting the layout explained before arriving. It also suits anyone who wants a refresher before a return trip.

  • Live video walk with a local guide
  • Questions to your guide all the way
  • A short list of places to visit later

Itinerary

  1. Welcome and sound check 7 min

The guide joins the video call, checks the picture and sound with you, and gives you a quick sense of Krakow before heading out.

  2. Floriańska Gate and Barbican 21 min

The camera stands at the Floriańska Gate and the round Barbican beside it, and the guide explains how these two structures once formed the main defended entrance into the medieval town.

  3. Main Market Square 21 min

In the Main Market Square, the guide points out the Cloth Hall running down its centre, then turns to St Mary's Basilica in time for the hourly trumpet call from its tower.

  4. Grodzka street to Wawel Hill 21 min

Following the old Royal Route down Grodzka street, the walk ends in the courtyard of Wawel Hill, where the guide points out the cathedral's exterior and explains the route royal processions once took.

  5. Your questions 14 min

Time to ask anything about Krakow: prices, safety, food, or whatever you are curious about.

  6. A short list to keep 6 min

Before you go, the guide sums up with a few things worth remembering: a dish to try: Pierogi and Podgórze, worth a slower look.

Good to know

  • A stable wifi or mobile connection makes the picture smoother than a shaky one.
  • Any phone, tablet or laptop with a camera works. You watch, the guide does the walking.
  • Times are shown in Warsaw time, so check the time where you are before you book.
  • The session is not recorded, and recording it yourself is not allowed. Feel free to take your own notes.
  • Ask questions any time, out loud or in the chat. The guide will pause to answer.
  • Sessions run in small groups, up to 12 people, so there is room for everyone to ask something.

How reviews work

Only travellers who booked and paid through Locals Guide and whose tour took place can leave a review, within 60 days of the tour. Every review is marked "Verified booking". We check reviews before they appear and publish positive and negative ones alike; we remove only reviews that break our rules (insults, personal data, unrelated content). Guides cannot pay for, edit or hide reviews, and ratings are the plain average of all published reviews.
