Botany was my first love long before guiding was, and I still keep a small notebook of what is flowering in each garden every week of the year. On camera I hold the phone low, near the beds themselves, rather than at eye level, so viewers see what a visitor walking past would actually notice. I plan calls around the season rather than the calendar date, since a warm spring changes everything by two or three weeks. People are often surprised how much changes in a garden between one call and the next.
