Alessandro Marino

I trained years ago as an official guide inside St Mark's Basilica, so its golden mosaics and the light that changes them through the day are what I know best on camera. My other two sessions move outward to the Doge's Palace and the Bridge of Sighs, and then to the square itself at an hour before the crowds arrive. I like slowing right down in front of a single mosaic panel rather than rushing through the whole building, since the detail rewards patience. I answer questions about Byzantine art in as much depth as anyone wants.
