I am from Agerola, the village above Amalfi where the Path of the Gods begins, and I grew up on those trails with my father, who kept goats on the terraces. I trained as a mountain guide and have led hikes on the Amalfi Coast since 2018. The Sentiero degli Dei runs about eight kilometres from Bomerano to Nocelle with the sea 600 metres below you. It is not difficult, but it is rocky, and the 1,700 steps down to Positano at the end will get your knees. I also lead a quieter walk through the Valle delle Ferriere, a wet, green gorge above Amalfi with old paper mills and rare ferns. We stop in Agerola for fiordilatte and a sandwich my mother insists on making. I pick up from Sorrento and Positano. My sessions now run live on video from Sorrento: I carry the phone, you watch from wherever you are and ask anything.
