I worked seasonal shifts at Tivoli Gardens for years before training as a guide, so I know which corners of the park keep their nineteenth century character best after dark. On camera I walk the illuminated paths once the lights come on, pointing out the oldest surviving rides and the gardens laid out when the park opened in 1843. I explain how Tivoli influenced amusement parks built decades later elsewhere. I keep my pace slow among the lights, since half the appeal here is simply looking up. Video guiding at night shows the park the way most visitors actually remember it.
