My grandparents came to Hamburg from Istanbul in the seventies and settled near Sternschanze, so I grew up between two food cultures on the same street. On camera I walk the Schanzenviertel's stalls and small kitchens, showing how Turkish, Vietnamese and German cooking now sit side by side in the same three blocks. I point out which shopfronts have barely changed in decades and which arrived only last year. I like explaining a dish through the person making it rather than just naming it. Video guiding lets me get close enough to a grill or a counter that the smell almost carries through.
