About Ayşe
Avanos is the pottery town on the Kızılırmak, the red river, and my husband's family has been working its clay for four generations. I cook testi kebab, the meat and vegetable stew sealed in a clay pot and cracked open at the table, with mantı that I fold that morning and a salad from our garden. I am not a historian and I do not pretend to be. I can tell you how people live here now, and that is what most guests end up asking me about. Everything I do is now live on video: I walk Cappadocia with my phone, and you can ask me anything as we go.
