Bruno Oliveira

I came from São Paulo in 2015 for a master's in urban planning at the University of Lisbon and never went back. I live in Marvila, on the eastern edge of the city, in a flat above an old warehouse that now makes sourdough. When I arrived this area was empty factories and grain silos. Now it has breweries, artist studios, a big public library and some of the best murals in Lisbon, and the neighbours who lived here the whole time have opinions about all of it. I show both sides. My other walk is in Alcântara, around LX Factory and the old docks, where I explain how the port and the industrial quarter shaped the western side of the city. I speak Brazilian Portuguese, which Lisboetas tease me about, plus English and Spanish. I like groups who ask a lot of questions and do not mind a detour for a pastry. My tours are relaxed, but I keep an eye on the clock. Now I show Lisbon live on a video call, phone in hand, and I answer questions as they come.
