I am partway through a doctorate on early museum collections and the Ashmolean is effectively my second office, so I guide sessions built entirely around it rather than the wider city. I like talking through specific objects in detail rather than rushing through the whole building, since most visitors only remember a fraction of what they see on a fast walk-through. Questions usually take us somewhere unexpected, and I am happy to follow them rather than stick rigidly to what I planned. My academic background means I can usually point you towards a book if you want to go further after the call.
