I row on the Rhine most weekends, so the promenade is a stretch of river I know at every hour and every water level, and I like matching a session to whichever mood the river happens to be in that day. My sessions there hold the camera on the cathedral towers from across the water, a view that changes completely between morning mist and clear evening light. I keep commentary lighter along the water and save the denser history for the cathedral sessions themselves, since I think the river works better as a calmer counterpoint.
