I studied local history before working several years as a city archivist, so Hauptplatz and the buildings around it rarely run out of detail for me. On camera I show the statue at its centre and then step into the Landhaus courtyard next door, a Renaissance building that still houses the regional parliament today. I explain how differently the square has been used across five centuries without ever losing its role as the city's centre. I keep sessions detailed and welcome long strings of questions about the buildings involved.
