I have rowed on the Regnitz through Klein Venedig most weekends for years, so I know exactly which houses lean furthest over the water and why. On camera I follow the row of half-timbered former fishermen's houses, explaining how their gardens still drop straight into the river behind them. My second session moves to the Old Town Hall, built oddly on an artificial island in the middle of the water, where I point out the trompe-l'oeil painting that tricks the eye on its facade. I keep a relaxed, visual pace suited to a slower look at the town's riverside character.
