Colm Whelan

I worked as a stonemason on restoration projects at Dublin Castle before I started guiding, so its courtyards and towers are ground I know from actual repair work, not just research. On camera I point out tool marks and repairs that most visitors walk straight past, at the castle, at Chester Beatty's garden terrace, and along the river at the Ha'penny Bridge. Seven years of guiding on video has taught me to keep the phone steady and let a detail sit on screen before I explain it. I answer questions properly rather than rushing to the next stop.
