I live in Statenkwartier, a few streets from the Peace Palace, and I still find it strange how quietly a building meant to settle disputes between nations sits among ordinary houses and embassy gates. I show it from the gardens across the road, then walk the surrounding streets where I point out flags and plaques that most people never notice on their way past. I keep my sessions short and focused on one idea, since I think a viewer remembers a single well-told story about a gate or a garden far better than a long list of buildings.
