I have lived above the Beşiktaş fish market my whole life, and I still go down most mornings before the stalls get busy, which is usually when I film. I trained as a guide focused on the Bosphorus shoreline from Beşiktaş to Ortaköy, since that stretch shows the city's modern side better than the old peninsula does. On camera I like keeping the water in frame whenever I can, whether that means the bridge behind Ortaköy's mosque or the palace seen from the shore rather than its gates. I answer most questions about how this part of the city has changed within my own lifetime.
