🇧🇬 Sofia, Bulgaria
I bake banitsa every Sunday for my family and I can tell you in ten seconds whether a bakery uses real sirene or cheap cheese. Food is the easiest way I know to explain Bulgaria. My walk starts at the Women's Market, the oldest market in Sofia, where you buy lyutenitsa from the woman who made it and dried herbs for tea. We try boza, the thick fermented drink that everyone either loves or hates, then banitsa with yoghurt, shopska salad and a plate of kavarma. In the evening I also do a rakia and live music night in the bars around Shishman street. I studied German philology and worked in a Berlin café for two years, so I speak German and I appreciate good coffee. I joined in June and I am slowly adding more walks. I promise not to let you leave hungry. From Sofia, I now guide on live video with my phone, and the chat stays open for your questions the whole time.
