I have climbed Pyynikki most mornings for over a decade, partly for the run and partly because the doughnut stand at the top is hard to argue with afterwards. On camera I take the ridge trail slowly, pointing out where the land drops away to each of the two lakes on either side. I trained as a forester and still notice the tree cover more than most guides would. I keep sessions unhurried, since the ridge rewards a walking pace rather than a rushed one.
