I studied art history and Stavropoleos Church is still the building I most enjoy explaining, since its ornate Brâncovenesc-style facade fits an enormous amount of carved detail into a genuinely small church. On camera I move slowly around the exterior, since services inside make filming impractical most of the time. I keep a brief, informative pace and enjoy questions about the style's mix of Byzantine and local influences. Video works particularly well for detailed carving like this, since the camera can hold close on a single panel far longer than a passing glance allows.
