Elena Georgiou

I trained as a classical archaeologist and worked seasons on the mosaic conservation team at the Archaeological Park before I began guiding. On camera I stay along the public path and entrance courtyard, since the mosaic-covered villas themselves sit inside a roofed, ticketed structure, and I describe the House of Dionysos floor by floor from memory instead. I explain how conservators stabilise colour in mosaics that have survived nearly two thousand years underground. I answer detailed questions about Roman-era craftsmanship more happily than almost anything else I guide.
