I studied architecture and it shows in how I talk about the New Town, I can't resist pointing out a doorway's proportions or a terrace's roofline. I've guided for six years now, long enough to have a genuine favourite square that changes with the seasons. On camera I try to frame a street the way an architect would look at it, straight on, taking in the whole facade rather than a fragment. Video guiding has taught me to describe scale carefully, since a viewer can't feel a building's height through a phone screen the way you would standing beneath it.
