Giorgos Kastrinakis

I have worked on boats out of the old harbour since I was a teenager, so the walls of Koules feel like part of my own history rather than a monument. On video I hold the phone low along the quay first, so the fortress rises the way it does when you arrive by sea, then walk the vaulted arsenali where Venetian galleys were once repaired. I explain the difference between the original stonework and the later repairs, since most visitors never notice it. I like a call that moves at the pace of the harbour itself, unhurried and a little salty.
