Giulia Lorusso

I grew up in a house in Sasso Caveoso that was a cave dwelling until my grandparents' time, so I still notice which walls carry the oldest plaster and which frescoes hide behind doors most visitors pass without a glance. On camera I stay close to the rock churches, because a screen flattens carved stone unless you get near enough to see the tool marks left centuries ago. I like to hold the shot on the ravine at the moment the light turns gold, since that change is the one thing a photograph taken at midday can never show a viewer watching from home.
