I grew up hearing the myth of Arethusa from my grandmother before I ever saw the actual spring it is named for, so telling that story on camera still feels personal to me. I show the freshwater pool a few steps from the sea and explain how fresh water bubbling up so close to salt water gave rise to the legend in the first place. I also guide short sessions at the fish market nearby, since the two sit only a few minutes apart and both say something about the island's relationship with water. I have guided for five years now.
