I trained as a stonemason before I started guiding, so I notice buildings the way most people notice faces, the details first. The museum's sandstone front is one of my favourite things to film in low afternoon light. Cramond is where I take people who want to end a session outdoors, the causeway to the island only clears at low tide and I plan sessions around that properly. On camera I try to explain the engineering behind a building as much as its history, since that's the part most guides skip over and people are usually curious once it's pointed out.
