I grew up in the Altstadt, close enough to the cathedral to hear its bells from my childhood bedroom, so I still notice details in the old town most visitors walk past quickly. My sessions there move between narrow rebuilt streets and the open square facing the cathedral, and I explain how much of what looks centuries old was actually rebuilt after the war using the original stone where it could be recovered. I keep a slower pace through the side streets, since that is where the more interesting details tend to hide.
