I climb up to the Yellow Fortress most evenings to catch the light over the old town before it fades, so that walk barely feels like work to me anymore. On other days I ride the Trebević cable car instead, rebuilt after the war and now the easiest way up to the old 1984 Winter Olympics bobsled track. Both give a view over Sarajevo that the streets below simply cannot. Five years of guiding these two routes has taught me exactly which evenings are worth climbing for and which are not.
