Hauke Jensen

I grew up in Blankenese, on the steep side of the Elbe, where the old captains' houses sit on staircases and the delivery vans cannot go. My father was a ship's engineer and my mother ran a fruit farm in the Altes Land on the other side of the river, so I spent my childhood on the ferry between the two. I studied biology in Kiel and worked for eight years for a nature protection association on the Elbe marshes, counting birds and explaining dykes to school classes. I began guiding in 2026 because I wanted to show visitors that Hamburg is also a river landscape and not only a port. My tours are calm and outdoors. I will talk about the tides, the cherry and apple orchards, and the fishermen's houses, and I am happy to walk in silence for a while if you prefer. I cycle everywhere and my bike is older than most of my guests. My sessions now run live on video from Hamburg: I carry the phone, you watch from wherever you are and ask anything.
