Henrik Ahlgren

I studied art history with a focus on Nordic painting, which the Gothenburg Museum of Art holds an unusually strong collection of for a city this size. My main session walks the plaza outside the museum, describing what is currently on display without the camera going indoors. A second session covers the Opera House on the harbour, a building whose brick and glass exterior still divides opinion decades after it opened. I like pairing an older museum with a newer, more contested building, since both say something about how Gothenburg sees its own culture.
