I grew up in La Viña, so Carnival season here has always meant my own street filling with costumes and song long before it became something visitors travel for. On camera I try to catch the songs from a respectful distance rather than pushing into anyone's celebration, and I explain honestly that the atmosphere depends entirely on the date and the crowd that day. On calmer mornings I walk Parque Genovés instead, where the clipped hedges and the sea views make for a much quieter session. I like offering both moods to the same person across two different calls.
