Clifford's Tower stands on its mound above the city as the surviving keep of York Castle, and I like starting a call at the base looking up before we ever climb the mound itself. I trained as a heritage guide and worked at the castle site for several years before switching to video calls. I try to explain the tower's difficult history honestly rather than skipping past it. I keep a measured pace and check in often that the sound and picture are both coming through clearly.
