Jelena Petrović

I am a sociologist and for fifteen years I worked on housing research at the Institute for Urbanism, which is a long way of saying that I have spent a lot of time in the apartment blocks of New Belgrade. My main tour is about Yugoslavia, from the House of Flowers where Tito is buried to the Palace of Serbia and Blok 23, and the Genex Tower that locals call the Western Gate. I explain what non-aligned meant in practice and how people lived in these buildings, because I grew up in one. I speak Russian from school and a year in Saint Petersburg. From Belgrade, I now guide on live video with my phone, and the chat stays open for your questions the whole time.
