Juho Laine

I worked for eight years as a forestry technician in eastern Finland, near Joensuu, counting trees and marking roads, before I moved to Helsinki for my partner. I missed the forest, so I started taking people to Nuuksio, the national park forty minutes from the city, and now I do it most days of the week. I also cook, mostly traditional Finnish food my grandmother made in Karelia, like pies and stews, and I run a small food walk at the Hakaniemi market. I speak Finnish, English and German. I am quiet and practical. I will not talk all the time, but I will point out the mushrooms, the moose tracks and the lichen reindeer eat, and I will teach you how to make a fire the Finnish way.
