Julia Krzeptowska

I trained as an architect and became fascinated by the Zakopane style almost by accident, after restoring a client's guesthouse built in the same tradition as Witkiewicz's original designs. My sessions focus on the carved wooden details most visitors walk past without noticing, the highland motifs worked into gables and window frames across the town. I also cover Villa Koliba, the first building in the style, and explain what made it so controversial when it first appeared. I like a slow pace on camera, since the carving only really reads once you stop moving and actually look at it.
