History is my subject, and I like showing how the Château Comtal was built as a fortress within a fortress, protected by its own moat even inside the Cité's outer walls. From there I move to Porte Narbonnaise, the main gate, to explain how an approaching army would have been funnelled and trapped between its two towers. On camera I try to explain why a defence works rather than only naming its parts. I studied medieval history before I ever picked up a phone to guide with, and I speak French and English.
