Karim Belkacem

I grew up in Le Panier, so its murals and its steep lanes are streets I could describe with my eyes closed, though I still find something new every season. Later in the day I like moving down to Friche la Belle de Mai, a former tobacco factory turned into somewhere I actually spend my free time, to show how the city keeps reusing its old industrial buildings. On camera I try to slow down at a single mural or a single piece of brickwork rather than naming every street. I speak French, English and some Arabic, and I switch without much thought when someone asks.
