I moved to Kypseli about ten years ago and stayed because it is one of the few neighbourhoods in Athens where you can hear four or five languages in a single market aisle. On camera I try to show that mix honestly rather than turning it into a novelty, stopping at the shops that actually matter to the people who live there. I also film Monastiraki after dark from a rooftop I know well, since the view of the Acropolis lit up changes completely once the sun goes down. I keep the pace relaxed and answer questions as we go rather than saving them for the end.
