I have worked behind a few different bars in Quadrilatero Romano, so the grid of Roman-era streets now filled with bars is the part of Turin I know best after dark. On camera I walk through as the aperitivo crowd builds, explaining how the tradition of a free snack with an evening drink became such a fixture here. I trace the street grid's Roman origins even while showing a completely contemporary scene, since the two histories sit right on top of each other. I keep my pace relaxed and let the district's own noise fill in some of the detail. I answer questions about specific bars as we go.
