My family has lived in the Judería for three generations, so when I show you the lane to the old synagogue I am really showing you my own street. On video I hold the phone low near the flower pots on Calleja de las Flores so the colour fills the screen before the bell tower appears behind it. I trained as a history teacher, which probably explains why I cannot resist adding one extra fact nobody asked for. What I enjoy most about a call is watching people notice the small details, a worn step, a tiled number plate, that a rushed visit would miss.
