I live two minutes from the marina and have watched Portas do Mar go from a building site to the busiest waterfront spot in the city over the past few years. My daytime session shows the harbour, the fishing boats and the modern pools built into the old sea wall, and I try to explain how the island's relationship with the ocean shows up in small details most visitors miss. I am still fairly new to guiding, so I keep sessions relaxed and let the waterfront do most of the talking rather than filling every minute with commentary.
