Zagreb is the city people skip on the way to the coast, and I have made peace with that because the ones who stay tend to like it a lot. I am a trained librarian and I worked eight years at the city library in Gornji grad before I started guiding part time, then full time. My walk goes from the Dolac market, where the kumice in red headscarves sell cottage cheese and cream, up the Stone Gate and across St Mark's Square, then down Tkalčićeva for coffee. I talk about the 2020 earthquake because you will still see the scaffolding on the cathedral. In the evening I do a food and beer route with štrukli, a proper plate of sausages at a bistro near Britanac and a couple of craft breweries. Winter is my favourite season here, especially Advent, even if my feet disagree. Today my sessions are live video walks through Zagreb; you join from home, and I answer whatever you ask as we go.
