I've spent most of my life a few streets from the Basilica di San Nicola, and on camera I like to show how the building sits inside the old town rather than as an isolated monument, since the two feel inseparable to anyone who grew up here. I keep close to the exterior stonework and the approach through the old town gates, because that walk in is half of what makes the basilica what it is. At the castle I focus on the moat and the walls Frederick II expanded, since most images online only show the courtyard and skip the fortification itself entirely.
