I have worked doors and bars along the Reeperbahn since I was twenty, so I know which clubs have kept their original signage and which ones changed hands years ago. On camera I walk St Pauli after dark, pointing out the neon and explaining how the district's reputation has shifted since the sixties without losing its edge. I keep commentary short and let the street carry most of a session, since over explaining ruins the mood. Guiding this stretch by video means showing exactly how loud and bright it gets without anyone having to stand in the middle of it.
