I grew up in Sintra and Pena Palace still gets me every time the mist clears and the colours actually show. On camera I hold the shot on the terraces and the painted walls from outside, since the interior stays closed to filming, and I explain the mix of styles the king pulled together from Portugal's own past. I climb slowly rather than rushing between terraces, since the palace rewards patience more than speed.
