I grew up stepping over the Bächle on my way to school and still forget sometimes that most cities do not have tiny streams running through their streets. On camera I follow one channel from the old town wall down toward the cathedral, pointing out where it was once used to fight fires or water livestock. I speak French comfortably, which helps often here given how close Freiburg sits to the border. I keep my pace slow and let people ask about the water whenever curiosity strikes, since most visitors have never seen anything quite like it.
