I trained as a stonemason before I ever picked up a camera, so Roman arches interest me for how they were built rather than only how they look. My sessions move slowly through the old gates and the streets around them, and I try to point out the joins and the repairs that most people walk straight past. I have filmed the same corners enough times to know exactly where the light works best at different hours. On camera I keep the talking short between stops and let questions steer where we linger. Five years in, I still find something new to point out most weeks.
