I grew up a few doors from Piazza della Riforma, so the square's arcaded buildings are the backdrop to most of my memories of this city. On camera I walk the square first, explaining how it became the social and political centre it still is, before moving under the arcades of Via Nassa. I studied local history at university and like tracing how Lombard and Swiss influences both shaped the same street. On a shorter call, I also talk through Ticino's own Italian dialect and how it differs from standard Italian. I keep my sessions unhurried, since the old town rewards a slow pace.
