Nikolay Ivanov

I studied medieval history at Sofia University with a thesis on the Asen dynasty, and I still cannot walk past Baldwin's Tower without thinking of the strange chain of events that put a Latin emperor inside a Bulgarian fortress. On camera I explain the tower's story slowly, since most guests arrive knowing only that it exists and not why. I also spend real time at Trapezitsa, where far fewer viewers have heard of the churches once standing there. I run a formal, well researched session and expect the detailed questions that come with that, which I genuinely enjoy answering.
