My grandfather worked as a labourer on early digs near the palace, and I grew up hearing his stories long before I read a guidebook page about it. On video I stand at the perimeter fence and the open approach path, tracing the outline of the throne room and the old storage rooms from where the camera can actually reach, and explaining what the excavators found underneath centuries of later building. I try to separate the parts that are genuinely Bronze Age from the concrete additions added later, since visitors often assume the whole site is original.
