I have lived beside Nyhavn my whole life, in one of the same colourful townhouses tourists photograph every day without knowing anyone still lives behind those windows. On camera I walk the harbour edge, pointing out which buildings survived the city's fires and which were rebuilt to match the originals afterward. I explain how a rough sailors' quarter became the postcard image most people now associate with Copenhagen. I keep my sessions close to the water, since the boats moored along the canal change the view daily. Filming Nyhavn properly means catching it before the afternoon crowd arrives.
